Ministries
Melanesia/Oceania
Christ Community Church is committed to giving to the Nazarene World Evangelism Fund. This fund supports missionaries around the world who do not have to raise their own support, allowing them to focus on ministry. This fund is a general fund, but we want to know specific missionaries and activities of God. So, we are partnering with a regional mission field, Melanesia/Oceania. More than five families in our church have

participated long-term in this mission field and are able to share their perspectives. We also have missionaries from this field visiting our church through the years for personal stories and interactions. Over the next five years, we intend to send teams to this region and receive teams from the region. Today, we are joining in prayer with these believers, sharing worship styles, and communicating victories in specific areas of the Christian life.

We'll hear from missionaries from this field on the following dates:

Harmon Schmelzembaugh - Tuesday, October 4th at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary.

Scott and Gail Dooley - Sunday, January 1st at 9:30 am in the sanctuary and 11:00 am in room 118.

You may read their blogs here under the ministries menu or go the Oceania Nazarene website.

Grace Church of the Nazarene

With more than six cultures represented in the church and 61 languages in the neighborhood, Grace Church of the Nazarene is a truly cross-cultureal community. It's tempting to do "drop-in" ministry downtown, but our church wants to be consistently involved. We are looking forward to three key elements:

TRADING PULPITS: Pastor Scott Dement and Pastor Joey Condon will occasionally switch where they preach on Sundays. Pastor Joey will be at Christ Community Church on October 30th.

TRADING PEWS: You are invited to be a regular attendee at Grace Church for a year. Your purpose would be to model a professional and Christian lifestyle in a community that is in bondage to an entitlement mentality.

TRADING PLACES: There are three events each year that we conduct cooperatively with Grace church. Our next event will be December 11th, when Grace Church comes to Christ Community for the presentation and Christmas bazaar "From Saint to Santa."

Grace Church of the Nazarene is located at 4300 Independence Ave., Kansas City, MO 64124 (click here for a google map).

Our church began in 1992 in the gym of Meadow Lane. This school is just down the street from our present building. We are joining forces with Principal Brian Lowe to Adopt his school. There are several ways we can partner with him.

YOUTHFRIENDS

In just 30 minutes a week you can have a great impact in the life of a student. You may assist them academically, read to them, practice "sight words," or just join them for lunch. There are many needs and opportunities. To apply and attend a training, please follow the following links: for the application http://www.olatheschools.com/community2/volunteering/youthfriends and for the training dates and times http://www.youthfriends.org/schooldistricts/GKC/OlatheTraining.html

Introduction to Justice and Compassion
The Bible says that all of creation is awaiting the revealing of the children of God. Our hope is that all creation, especially humanity, will experience liberation and redemption because of who Christ makes us to be. (Romans 8:18ff., Isaiah 65:17ff.) As we listen to our communities, we hear their deep needs and respond with Christ's resources (his salvation and our service) to meet those needs. We are concerned not just with "fairness," but mercy and love.

INSIDE OUT: The purpose of our church is to move from the inside out. We don't see "church" as an ending point where we want people to arrive, but as a launching pad into the community. That means we practice the inside going out. Members of our church are all asked, "Where are you serving?"

UPSIDE DOWN: The role of leaders in our church is to empower the people of God for ministry (Eph 4:12). We see our leadership structure as an upside down pyramid. We don't want you to "get under our umbrella" but prefer to see you strengthened by your church for service.

EQUIPPING THE CHURCH: The Missions/Compassionate Ministry Action Team has prepared information to provide Sunday School classes, small groups, and individuals with opportunities to participate in community service projects.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are committed to the worship of God and service to others. This comples us to: bring people to Christ, develop their relationship with Christ, and equip them for works of service, trusting the Holy Spirit to grow the church. As we serve through partnerships we are expressing the part of our mission statement that seeks to equip our people for works of service.
